About the Author
Gerard Way is a singer, songwriter, and comic book writer who is perhaps best known as the lead singer of the band My Chemical Romance. With My Chemical Romance, Way found fame and acclaim and toured with the band from 2001 to 2013. In addition to his music, Way is the Eisner Award–winning writer of The Umbrella Academy and The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. You can learn more about Way and his art at gerardway.com.Shaun Simon is the former keyboardist for the New Jersey band Pencey Prep, which he founded with Frank Iero and John McGuire. Following the band's breakup in 2002, he accompanied Gerard Way's band, My Chemical Romance, on tour. It was while on tour that many of the ideas for the Killjoys comic book took shape. At the 2012 New York Comic Con, it was announced that a first look at the series would be released on 2013's Free Comic Book Day. The series is drawn by artist Becky Cloonan and edited by Sierra Hahn. Simon has also worked outside the comics medium and was the winner of the Preditors & Editors readers poll for his flash fiction story "Snowman." The author lives in Montclair, New Jersey.Becky Cloonan is a comic book artist, writer, and creator. Cloonan was educated at New York's School of Visual Arts. After graduating, she began working on Channel Zero: Jennie One. Cloonan is known for her work on 9-11, MySpace Dark Horse Presents, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Conan the Barbarian. Got this for my daughter who is a huge Gerard Way fan and My Chemical Romance fan. She loves this Graphic Novel, she it basically tells the story of the My Chemical Romance album Danger Days: The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys. The artwork and story are awesome. A must have for any MCR fan!
I bought this as Christmas gift for my boyfriend since he is a fan of Gerard Way. The comic has a reasonable pricing and it arrived on time! The book is a lotto bent but I can fix that by folding it a bit,besides that it looks like it is in great condition!!
To be honest it is pretty confusing and you have to read it a few times to fully understand what is going on since he explains the story through flashbacks, however once you understand it, it is enjoyable. I like the art, the writer (obviously), and that all the couples in it are subtly gay. I like watching the nanana music video and making the connections to the story and that it brings the characters to life, and I love the whole atmosphere of the killjoys
As some people may already know, the Killjoys comic is a continuation of the world first introduced by My Chemical Romance's album "Danger Days." But that doesn't mean you need to know any backstory before picking it up. This book embodies everything you could want in a post-apocalyptic story: Draculoids, rayguns, androids seeking health care, and body bags that double as sleeping bags in a pinch. Plus, Grant-friggin'-Morrison sneaks his way in under the guise of self-doubting villain, Korse. In a word, it's awesome. When's the movie?
Awesome comic, probably my second favorite book ever! This was the first comic book I ever got and it definitely wasn't my last. It's a cool universe, interesting story, and (emotionally, action, ect.) capturing art. The item itself is good too, no mess-ups, nice paper, vibrant colors.
Are you a My Chemical Romance junkie! Love the True Lives? Then, you have got to get this collectible. I read it several times. You have to fill in the blanks and let the imagination run wild. I think it is a good story. It should take it's place with all the other MCR trinkets and memorabilia that any faithful Romancer collects. Hit the party with a gas can today!
i ordered this at the request of my 16 year old grandaughter; it was great to find it on line. she loved it
Came in perfect condition within two days. I love this book, and I was glad to get another copy (I donated my first copy to a library). I definitely recommend this.
