About the Author

Gerard Way is a singer, songwriter, and comic book writer who is perhaps best known as the lead singer of the band My Chemical Romance. With My Chemical Romance, Way found fame and acclaim and toured with the band from 2001 to 2013. Got this for my daughter who is a huge Gerard Way fan and My Chemical Romance fan. She loves this Graphic Novel, she it basically tells the story of the My Chemical Romance album Danger Days: The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys. The artwork and story are awesome. A must have for any MCR fan!

I bought this as Christmas gift for my boyfriend since he is a fan of Gerard Way. The comic has a reasonable pricing and it arrived on time! The book is a lotto bent but I can fix that by folding it a bit,besides that it looks like it is in great condition!!

To be honest it is pretty confusing and you have to read it a few times to fully understand what is going on since he explains the story through flashbacks, however once you understand it, it is enjoyable. I like the art, the writer (obviously), and that all the couples in it are subtly gay. I like watching the nanana music video and making the connections to the story and that it brings the characters to life, and I love the whole atmosphere of the killjoys

As some people may already know, the Killjoys comic is a continuation of the world first introduced by My Chemical Romance's album "Danger Days." But that doesn't mean you need to know any backstory before picking it up. This book embodies everything you could want in a post-apocalyptic story: Draculoids, rayguns, androids seeking health care, and body bags that double as sleeping bags in a pinch. Plus, Grant-friggin'-Morrison sneaks his way in under the guise of self-doubting villain, Korse. In a word, it's awesome. When's the movie?

Awesome comic, probably my second favorite book ever! This was the first comic book I ever got and it definitely wasn't my last. It's a cool universe, interesting story, and (emotionally, action, ect.) capturing art. The item itself is good too, no mess-ups, nice paper, vibrant colors.

Are you a My Chemical Romance junkie! Love the True Lives? Then, you have got to get this collectible. I read it several times. You have to fill in the blanks and let the imagination run wild. I think it is a good story. It should take it's place with all the other MCR trinkets and memorabilia that any faithful Romancer collects. Hit the party with a gas can today!

This series is very erotic and has excitement on every page. It is like 50 Shades of Grey on crack! This book is not for so done who isn't interested in reading about all types of fetish sex. I didn't like 50 Shades of agree because I have read more serious erotica, this was more in line with what I enjoy reading!

Anne Rice hands readers a delicious tale. If you are curious about high protocol BDSM, you will enjoy this ride. If you don't understand the basis for the story, it will just seem like a lot of spankings and humiliation. It's more than obvious that Anne Rice is experienced in kink and BDSM...bravo to her for giving readers some juicy tales to chew on!

I purchased this after reading the intro written by Ann Rice and thought it would be similar to 50 Shades, which I enjoyed. This was not reading enjoyment. A far cry from "soft porn", this was violent, graphic rape and abuse. I deleted this from my Kindle by chapter 4, as I was hoping it would obtain more of a story line...it does not.Very disappointed since Ms. Rice is one of my favorite authors. I will be sticking to her vampires, werewolves and witches.

Cheeky, naughty, and sexy, the Sleeping Beauty Trilogy was 100x better than "50 Shades of Juvenile Writing" ... I mean "Grey."

Loved it. It took me a while to get into this book series because its something that I have never read before. I read the first one a year ago and hated it. So I thought I would give it another try because I expected what was going to happen the shock factor was lower and that fact that I was able to connect into this fantasy world. It was fantastic. I am used to reading books as I am the characters and this is one of those books I had to read as just a book. But WHOA some of the scenes are graphic and well written, after reading it the second time I was immerced in each book I couldn't put them down. I bought all of them and loved each one for different reasons. Way to go Anne I am glad I gave this a second shot.

Wow, a friend told me about these books. Once you pick one up you won't be able to put it down. Fifty shades of grey will seem like from here to eternity after you read this series.

I had actually owned/read this trilogy a long time ago but wanted to get a new copy for myself. Anyone picking this up because they like Anne Rice (who is writing under the name A. N. Roquelaure) should be advised that this is not like her "normal" stories, such as The Vampire Chronicles. To be blunt, this is an erotica trilogy, and as such, there is a lot of explicit sex.

Definitely for the sexually open minded adult reader only.

I used this book to start to learn from scratch how to programming Unix. This book is self-contained,concise and easy to read. FYI, it is very readable and not dry. There's a number of good diagrams, for example,illustrating file descriptors allocations and the effects of system calls like dup2, etc. The authors uses short code snipplet to illustrate how to use a particular system calls, which I think is rather neat. A number of "projects" very quickly help reader to expand their skill level. Of interest is also a project on distributed "Richard" and "Linda" , the forerunner of Sun's JINI. The authors could have expanded this book another 100 pages and make it a companion to Steven's "Advanced Unix System Programming". I strongly recommend this book to beginners, intermediate Unix Programmers.

This is an awesome book. You'll have to be patient when going through it. And you'll learn a lot if you follow along with the examples and make everything work. It took me probably 6 hours just to get through chapter 2 - not because I can't read, but because I'm paying attention to every little detail, and making sure I learn what's going on.The other thing that came as a big surprise, was that this is the best introduction to C i've come across. I've read quite a few books on C. Generally, I get through these other books on C - I get the syntax and pointers, and headers, etc. What I can never get through in these other C books, is that they use Math for all the examples. Which bores me, and sometimes frustrates me - because what I want to do with systems programming is not math - that's just me.Of all the C books I've read, this one, and "C - A Reference Manual 5th Edition" are the best C books.One pitfall in the book, is that with most of the examples, the conditionals to check pointers, and some other conditionals are somewhat amateur looking (that's just me). For example, in chapter 2, the "listlib.c" file has tons of conditionals like this:list_t **newptrs;if(headptr == NULL){ errno = EINVAL; return -1;}That started to confuse me, why not just write:list_t **newptrs;if(!headptr){ errno = EINVAL; return -1;}Which is ok. So there are many times where it seems the author is either purposefully writing conditionals to be verbose for readers, or doesn't know how to simplify with "not" flips.Another example:if(ptr != NULL)can be simplified to:if(ptr)Other than those small things, this book is great.EDIT: One other thing that's slightly annoying.The authors like to put all of their code in conditionals. Like this:if ((sigemptyset(&twosigs) == -1) || (sigaddset(&twosigs, SIGINT) == -1) || (sigaddset(&twosigs, SIGQUIT) == -1)) perror("Failed to set up signal mask");For me that's ok in only a few places. They do it everywhere and it's really annoying. Maybe they did it just to save space in the book?

Fantastic book with great code examples and exercises. The discussion and examples escalate very quickly so much prior knowledge is recommended. I would recommend it to anyone that is wanting to learn about UNIX.

This is an invaluable reference to keep close at hand if you are a programmer supporting UNIX. The only thing I didn't find in this text is how to change your process name on-the-fly. Everything else I've looked for was there, and in most cases, described in detail.If you do systems programming on UNIX then you should have this book.

I cant really nail it, if I could I would have been an author myself and make millions, but the other day it suddenly hit me: When I read Stevens books sometimes a question arises and then I pause to think about it, only to turn the page and find the answer witinf for me. It is about being comprehensive, it is about covering all aspects of the topic, thinking forward on behalf of the reader, thinking what the reader may not understand and how to make it clear.Well Robbins and Robbins belongs to this category of books.I am a book maniac and I have most of the Unix/Linux programming books out there. This is by far the best systems programming book available.The other day I had to look up about asynchronous i/o in Linux and its interaction with POSIX real time signals. Opened the book, read the example, downladed the source code, in an hour I was flying and writing an asynchronous web server in Linux.For the networking stuff I never bothered to read the relevant chapters of the book since Stevens Network programming is the book I was trained by and it is still relevant.For my threading needs I used to use Butenhof's "Programming with POSIX threads", but this book has great examples and I learned a lot by browsing it. I mean I had a question about signal interaction with threads and the book had a section about it. Come on, it has saved my butt many many times. It is very comprehensive.I wholeheartedly recomend it to any serious systems programer, beginner or advanced.

An interesting read on a niche style of music created for and by Native Americans in the Southwest. Ms. Jacobsen did in-depth research including performing with several bands. However, I feel she did not adequately research or coverthe history of the Rez Bands from the 60s on to the present day including the impact of their music being offered on portable tape formats of 8 track and cassettes vs vinyl. Also felt she glossed over the influence of Waylon Jennings and Gary Stewart had on these bands as they played numerous dates on the reservations, often booked with Rez Bands. Both artists were made honorary members of the Dine' (Navajo). Important pieces of history in Navajo Country. Still a worthy and enjoyable book.

An ethnography of Navajo country and other popular music cultures, with interviews with central musicians. Instead of showing the similarities between all Navajo people, Jacobsen explains how they differ in class, race, and tastes. The cover of the book depicts the author in cowboy boots and hat with a dark guitar and Native American style blue bracelet, earrings and belt. The author put herself on the cover because she is a pretty well-known, touring singer herself. The book includes a note on “Orthographic and Linguistic Conventions,” which explains proper pronunciation of Navajo words. The “Introduction” opens with a clash between a woman and a convenience store worker that ends with the older woman insulting the cashier: “What kind of Navajo are you?” in the Navajo language, which the cashier could not understand as she was listening to heavy metal. This explains the generational and cultural clashes that this book details. These two women could be bonding over their shared identity, but instead they are fighting over their differences. The book also includes maps and other visual aids and statistics that explain the current state of the Navajo Nation and the Hopi Nation within its borders in Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. The narrative describes various components of this complex Navajo identity, such as the KTNN local popular country music station, and popular bands like the Wingate Valley Boys, alongside the impact of the American Indian Movement. This book is more conversational than scholarly, and yet there is plenty of statistics and historical fact to educate readers. Most of the discussion is about language and various components and styles of musical performance. Navajo residents who enjoy country music should take pleasure in reading this account and re-discovering their heritage. Scholars of culture and music will find plenty of evidence to use in their own scholarship on this topic.
