About the Author
Ron E. M. Clouzet is director of the NAD Evangelism Institute (NADEI), professor of Christian Ministry and Pastoral Theology at the SDA Theological Seminary at Andrews University, and field secretary of the North American Division. Born and raised in Argentina, Dr. Clouzet is finishing postdoctoral research in Systematic Theology from the University of South Africa, studying the baptism of the Holy Spirit in the writings and experience of Ellen G. White. Dr. Clouzet is married to Lisa Clouzet and they have three young-adult children, Christoffer, Alexander, and Stefani.

The strength of this book is the number of testimonies the author shares to illustrate his points. I am usually not one for too many testimonies as they can be lightweight but not in this case. His theology of the receiving of the Holy Spirit is not a second event after conversion to Christ, rather, an unpacking and experience of the conversion event. He is fair about evidences of the Spirit. My question is (and he also posed this question): If the Holy Spirit is received at conversion/baptism why is there not more evidence of the Spirit in the non-Charismatic-Pentecostal churches? My answer to this is: When one truly receives the Spirit there is an overflow and release (because of the power of the Spirit) whether it be verbal overflow (first evidence) followed by other evidences---something supernatural that one cannot produce oneself. In non-Pentecostal churches how does one know one has the infilling of the Spirit other than fruits and character (which arguably is very important). All in all, this is a book worth reading because of the new material included which will strengthen and challenge any believer to pursue the Spirit. My advice: don't assume you have the Spirit until you see/experience some evidence.
This book is absolutely spot on. Our Denomination's greatest need is for the Holy Spirit. The author early in this book got me to thinking, "The Holy Spirit is WITH us, but is He IN us? Something that really turned my head inside out. I got to thinking about it and all my life I've been confident the Holy Spirit is with me, but He wasn't IN me. Now I know why, thanks to this book and Dr. Clouzet. I will spend time praying for the Holy Spirt to be IN me and to help me to love others as Christ loves us. I've been way too selfish for way too long. It's time for a change and I'm going to ask God for it. Dr. Clouzet has chapters on various topics like speaking in tongues, etc that tie in with the concept of the Holy Spirit. Every chapter has a true story of a missionary or someone who was affected by the Holy Spirit. One gripping story is about a woman who was married to an abusive spouse. She nearly divorced him but was encouraged to pray for the Holy Spirit. She did for 3 months and things got worse but then one day it changed and got better. One year later, her husband had totally changed and their marriage was in good shape. Then the grandmother came to watch over their 6-month old son while she (wife) and her husband went out on a date and accidentally left the cap off of her prescription drugs. The baby boy managed to find the pills and swallowed all of them. He didn't make it. The family was devastated and the husband ran away leaving her to grieve on her own. She was reluctant to pray but she did and after a month the husband came back to give her support and the whole family - her parents and her in-law's all became Christians because they saw how the Holy Spirit was working in her. There are several other awesome stories in the book that made my hair stand on my head; but I'll let you buy the book and enjoy reading it. Thank you, Dr. Clouzet. God bless you.
This is a great book if you are interested in the role of the Holy Spirit in a Christian's life, as well as in the last days of earth's history. A serious but good read!
We went through this book chapter by chapter after it was recommended by one of our attendees. It was such a blessing to our group. It certainly does describe Adventism's greatest need of the Holy Spirit to guide us through these last days.
A wonderful insight into the workings of the Holy Spirit with Bible texts to verify each topic. Highly recommend.
