The book is an ok read. I am almost through it now. I passed the SSCP recently so I think that helped me breeze through some as there is some overlap.My issue is more with the practice questions. There are many, many questions in the practice test book which are not based on the study guide. Domain 6 is the worst offender! I have searched the pdf download of the book for half the things which were tested in the domain 6 and they are not present in the study guide anywhere! Some I know from work experience but come on, one of two things:Only test on what you have presented for study, or,If the additional subjects from the practice questions are necessary for the exam include them in the study guide!
Wow. This is really poorly written. The concepts are not well explained. They are often not even explicitly defined. They are not always grouped together meaningfully. I'm left scratching my head about things I knew and know; after reading about them in this book, in a few spots, I'm left worse of than I was with my preexisting professional knowledge.I think that it's really a failure of the writing style and editing, nobody read it for clarity. And it's really not concise enough. The concepts could be more clearly explained, more logically, in a book two-thirds or half the size of this ponderous tome.I could post specific exchanges examples, but why bother...Not sure that this matters anyway, this is the official study guide, so you're going to get it and slog through it anyway. But this is just... Disappointing.Makes me appreciate the PMP much more than I used to.
Dated now that a new version of the exam is out, but the content was complete and easy to digest. The practice test were the most helpful in my opinion, as they helped you get ready for how the questions are the CISSP exam flow, and how they expect you to come to an answer. This was to me the biggest difference between the CISSP and other certification exams I have taken.
I was over-prepared for the test by the time I finished this book set.
The humor in this is what keeps me awake when reading the material. I feel like i pick up a lot from it and instructors recommend this book.

Great material, especially when paired with the App and the video on LinkedIn.
If this gets me through the exam it will have been worth all the tedious hours - but the author(s) appear to be fixated on exhausting every thesaurus they could find. The writing is more mind numbing than the tax code, with an occasional exclamation point to emphasize something particularly obvious. Be prepared to read about a lot of ancient technology and memorize several hundred 3,4 and 5 letter acronyms.
